super interested in making a southern sci-fi story (like something that takes place in the 50s - 60s in an american inspired south) but the whole thing is that, there are only people of color who exist. it’s a classic southern belle story but like, all the rich southerners are like people of color (already have the two main characters fleshed out). like idk–i want there to be a classic southern story without always having to be tied to racism and black and brown people being the Help or mistreated. like i know it’s not realistic but this is how my stories gonna be. Just a southern alternate universe where there’s aliens and shit but no racism or anything of the sort.
like i just need a southern aesthetic that isn’t racist. the nice cars, the poodle skirts, the dues dressed in suits; everyone being rich and stuff, and living in those big mansions and shit.
but they’re just people of color in those roles. the girls in nice dresses the guys in slacks and jackets. Fleshing it out. It’s gonna be lit.
